With an outstanding dynamic range of 15+ stops, the Sony FX3 adapts to any environment, from bright indoors and outdoors at noon, to shooting mornings and evenings. Capture every nuance and provide unprecedented cinematic freedom in color grading.
4K 120fps with every frame clear
Detailed 4K images are captured even at high frame rates, thanks to the Sony FX3's high-precision AF and high-speed readout. Slow & Fast mode gives you full control over the frame rate of the shot for beautiful action sequences in up to 5x slow motion (with 24p output).
10-bit S-Log3 and HDR recording for smooth tones
The S-Log3 gamma curve and S-Gamut3.Cine provide shooting with high-quality color reproduction over a wide dynamic range, making it easy to match recordings shot with other Cinema Group cameras in post-production. In addition, the HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) HDR picture profile enables direct HDR (HLG) playback on compatible TVs without post-production.
16-bit RAW HDMI output 16-bit RAW output is available via HDMI connection with compatible external recorders for demanding post production workflows. XAVC HS 4K, XAVC S 4K or XAVC SI 4K and proxy files are captured in-camera simultaneously. RAW video output is 4264 x 2408 [16:9] resolution exceeding DCI-4K resolution. |

In addition to Long GOP compression, the FX3 can also offer internal 4K recording, 10-bit depth and 4:2:2 color sampling with All Intra. So for true freedom in editing, you can push the boundaries of your color gradations while keeping natural gradations.
Reliable and accurate autofocus
Wide-area AF with smart tracking uses focal-plane phase detection for stable subject tracking almost throughout the frame. The Fast Hybrid AF system ensures precise focusing even when shooting with low depth of field and high frame rates such as 120p in 4K (QFHD).
Sophisticated AF tracking for steady focus
Sophisticated tracking keeps your subject in constant focus so you can focus on the composition. Face and eyes are focused with precision thanks to Real-Time Eye AF, while Sony's unique AI-based object recognition algorithms support Real-Time Tracking.
Smooth transition and touch focus control
The Sony FX3 has seven AF Transition Speed settings for easy focus changes and five AF Object Shift Sensitivity settings for the user to customize how easily AF changes or stays on the locked subject. You can also select the object you want to focus on by simply touching the LCD monitor.

High mobility performance wherever you go
With its compact size and light weight, the FX3 is designed for high mobility. Attached arm and cage-free accessory mounting holes allow for quick setup, smooth shooting and rapid removal of equipment. The main body and covers are made of lightweight magnesium alloy to increase durability and performance even in harsh environments.
Attachable XLR handle
An arm equipped with an XLR adapter with two full-size XLR terminals can be attached to the Multi-Interface (MI) Shoe on the camera, making working with the camera more convenient and stable in challenging shooting conditions such as low-position shooting.
In addition to the camera's convenient built-in microphone, a variety of professional microphones can also be connected externally, thanks to the digital audio interface provided by the Multi Interface (MI) Shoe via full-length XLR connectors on the arm. Three recording formats can be selected, including 24-bit 4 channels. In addition, even when the arm is not used, digital audio can be recorded by attaching a digital microphone such as the ECM-B1M. |
In-camera image stabilization
Active Mode is an in-body, 5-axis optical image stabilization system that provides greater stabilization when shooting video. To preserve image quality, the gyroscope accurately measures and optically compensates for sensor camera shake. Thus, while shooting handheld without using a gimbal, 4K resolution video can be captured even while walking.
Image stabilization and easy editing with Catalyst
The built-in gyro records camera shake metadata so that handheld footage can be corrected and stabilized in post-production. Easily balance auto-shake compensation and image cropping levels using Sony's Catalyst Browse / Catalyst Prepare desktop application. Catalyst can also effectively use recorded camera orientation data.
Front and rear warning signal lamps
The tally lights on the front and back of the Sony FX3 indicate whether the camera is currently recording. Both the camera operator and the person in front of the camera can see the lights clearly.
Variable angle LCD touch monitor The 3.0-type (1.44 million-dot) LCD touchscreen panel features a side-opening design for flexible placement and better visibility when the camera is mounted on the gimbal. Touch panel support also provides intuitive menu control for many camera settings. |
Basic controls for efficient solo shooting
You can easily reach six customizable buttons and frequently used controls with one hand, and use the other hand freely for lens operations or balance. Its use is facilitated by the screw holes and carrying handle on the body where accessories can be attached directly.
High speed dual media slot Designed for next-generation filmmaking requirements, CFexpress Type A cards support high bitrate recording. The camera slots are compatible with CFexpress Type A cards, as well as traditional SDXC UHS-I and UHS-II cards. Redundancy or backup is possible with two identical media slots. |
Remote camera control and network transmission
Provides remote control support from smartphones or tablets via Wi-Fi® or USB type C connector, wired network connection, NFC One-Touch or manual pairing. Remote shooting can be controlled by PC via Sony's Imaging Edge Desktop™ app or mobile device via Imaging Edge Mobile™. In addition, the captured photo and video files can be transferred via high-speed FTP.
Remote preview, capture and stream
Developed for more efficient workflows and shooting in challenging environments, Imaging Edge Mobile allows wired or wireless remote shooting via a computer or mobile device. Imaging Edge Webcam™ provides online video communication with high image quality.
