Impressive quality with large 1.0-type sensor

The HXR-NX200's single 20-megapixel* 1.0-type Exmor R CMOS sensor is approximately the same size as a 16mm frame of film and is seven times larger than the three 1/4.7-type sensors combined. Thanks to this large size, more light reaches the sensor, resulting in less noise and blur; therefore, with a minimum illumination level of 1.7 lux**, clear and stable images are obtained even in a dark scene. The large sensor size allows you to focus on what you want to show and defocus the rest of the image by defocusing the beautiful background (bokeh).

Display Profiles with New Gamma Curve

The NX200's default view uses a brand new gamma curve specially developed to accurately display bright and deep colors with lifelike skin tones. Designed in consultation with leading videographers, the camera avoids oversaturation of brightly lit subjects and provides a more natural look. The NX200 has a choice of six Display Profiles, each of which can be individually customized to suit your needs.

Sony G Lens with 24x Clear Image Zoom (FHD)

A fixed 29mm wide-angle lens with 12x optical zoom makes it easy to capture even the widest landscape scenes while maximizing the performance of the NX200's large 1.0-type sensor, delivering superior clarity and sharpness. G Lens is Sony's own range of camera lenses, designed and manufactured to high optical performance standards. And Sony's advanced Clear Image Zoom feature helps you zoom in on even the most distant scenes. After zooming in at maximum 12x optical magnification, By Pixel Super Resolution Technology can enlarge the image by 150% in 4K quality or 200% in HD quality while maintaining image quality. What's more, the zoom performance can be doubled at any point, up to 24x with a digital extender.

Professional, useful design that allows manual operation

With its ergonomic design, the HXR-NX200 is lightweight and offers an easy-to-use shooting experience. Three manual, independent lens rings allow for smooth and natural adjustment of focus, zoom and iris control. It can be used in fully automatic mode or fully manual for maximum creative control. The manual dial and buttons on the side of the body allow quick and easy adjustment of IRIS (aperture), GAIN and shutter speed. White balance can be easily adjusted in handy 100K color temperature increments.

Built-in ND Filters

A built-in Neutral Density (ND) filter wheel; net, 1/4 (2 stops), 1/16 (4 stops) and 1/64 (6 stops) positions. This makes it easy to take full advantage of shallow depth of field without the need to use a separate filter, even when shooting outside during the daytime.

Multi-format recording with 100MB/s XAVC S 4K, HD and DV

The HXR-NX200 delivers outstanding performance in every way, whatever your workflow. For 4K or Full-HD production, XAVC S offers outstanding image quality as well as workflow flexibility and storage efficiency. Compared to AVCHD, thanks to its high bitrate, XAVC S captures more detail and less noise, and is also supported by major non-linear editors. The NX200 also offers the option to record in HD quality as AVCHD or DV, making it easy to integrate your content into existing workflows. The NX200 offers 25p 4K:QFHD 3840×2160 50p, 50i, 25p Full HD and 50i SD only PAL recording frame rates.

Dual media slots for recording flexibility

The NX200 is equipped with two memory card slots to increase recording time and workflow flexibility and is compatible with SDXC and SDHC cards. RELAY mode automatically switches recording to the second memory card when the first memory card is full, while SIMUL mode allows simultaneous recording to two memory cards (for example, to create an instant backup version). The NX200's two Start/Stop buttons, one on the handle and the other on the camcorder body, can independently start and stop recording on different memory cards while recording in SIMUL mode.
